Greeks and Romans tell stories of how their heroes and leaders calmly faced their execution. Socrates was remembered spouting one-liners to his friends before he was given the hemlock to drink. Even Jewish heroes faced death with a passion and fearlessness. Yet we find Jesus in his final moments and he's not detached and he's not fearless, instead he is overwhelmed with sorrow.
