Revival begins not in public activity but in personal surrender. This week invites participants to return to Jesus through honest confession, ongoing repentance, and embodied allegiance—recognizing that we cannot give what we have not yet received.
Icebreaker Question
- What’s something you’ve returned to after a long time away—like a hobby, place, or habit—that reminded you of who you really are?
Lean In | Start with Curiosity
- Have you ever felt spiritually “asleep” or stuck? What does that feel like, and what do you think causes it?
Look Down | Explore the Word
Read Romans 13:11-14.
- What imagery or phrases stand out to you in this passage? Why?
- What do you think it means to “wake up” spiritually in your own life?
- How do the ideas of taking off darkness and putting on Christ reflect the heart of confession, repentance, and baptism? What are some practical ways people can “take off the darkness” and “put on Christ”?
- Paul says the “day is almost here.” How does urgency or expectation affect the way we live our faith?
Look Out | Reflect on the World
- Where do you see signs of spiritual hunger or curiosity in the world around you?
- How might personal revival in followers of Jesus meet that hunger?
Look In | Examine the Heart
- Which part of the drift described (choosing comfort, distraction, pride, shame, etc.) resonates most with your own experience right now?
- How would it change your week to live with a rhythm of repentance rather than trying to maintain perfection or performance?
Live It Out | Imagine the Impact
- If our communities were marked by honest confession, daily repentance, and embodied allegiance to Jesus, how might our witness to the world be different?
- What would it look like to take the “next faithful step” in your journey of faith this week—whether that’s confession, repentance, baptism, or something else?
Optional Exercises for the Week
- Daily Confession Practice - Each evening, take 5 minutes to sit quietly and ask: “Where did I drift today?” Write it down, confess it to God, and then receive His mercy (consider rereading 1 John 1:9 or Psalm 108:8-13 aloud).
- Repentance Reframe - Pick one area of life where you’ve been “defining your own good.” This week, practice surrendering it to Jesus each morning—choosing His way over your own.
- Baptism Reflection (if applicable) - If you’ve never been baptized or are considering it anew, spend time in Romans 6 this week. Journal what it would mean for you to be buried and raised with Christ.
